What is the best practice of importing and storing .eps graphic styles in Illustrator for later use?

I am unable to store my .eps graphic styles in my "Open Graphic Style Library" menu, and if I save the style to the User Defined menu, it will not bring in the textures.

All I have is .eps files that are graphic styles and I need to store them in my Illustrator menu somewhere for later use.

Can they be stored in Adobe Bridge?

You will need to explicitly save them as graphic styles libraires. They will then be saved as AI files in your user folder. Since stuff can go wrong: no, I wouldn't delete the originals. A new hard drive is stil cheaper than having to recover or re-create something.

Exactly what are you doing in order to try?

Are there graphic styles in the EPS files?

Open an EPS

Open the graphic styles panel

Save the graphic styles as a library from the panel menu.

If you want to combine all of them into one huge files, you can do so by loading the graphic styles into one of these files. Problem is: Illustrator won't open EPS files as a library. If the EPS have been saved as a higher than version 10 EPS (so that there are graphic styles in them), what you can try is change the extension to .AI, which then can be opened as a library from the graphic styles panel menu.

You can upload one of these files for testing pruposes to Dropbox or the like and post a link in here.

Thnaks,

I have choosen to save them as .ai files and the graphic styles work fine, but I want to store the styles somewhere in Illustrator so that I can delete those .ai files that I created.

After I import a brush for example, I can delete the brush file that I imported because it will be stored somewhere in Illustrator for future use.

So is it safe to delete the .ai files after I already used them and opened them as libraries as .ai graphic styles?

Are they saved as a copy somewhere within illustrator for future use of the graphic styles?

I just don't want to have files lying around in my file manager.

Thanks.

Now I am storing graphic styles together with brushes, swatches and symbols in my Print.ai document profile, and I want to do that in Photoshop too.

I just asked on the Photoshop forums, if anyone knows how to do that, much welcome to reply.
