White edges when printing even when using bleed

Every time I print my design there are white edges no matter what format I save it to. I've tried using the bleed, I've tried making the colour elements bigger to extend into the bleed area so that I don’t lose any of the design when I print, I’ve made sure the dimensions are equal numbers, I’ve tried making the bleed bigger and smaller, I’ve selected trim and bleed when exporting. Nothing works! I'm tearing my hair out! Whether in Illustrator, or saved on my laptop, the design looks like it fills the page, but as soon as I print or go into print preview the white edges are there. Please help!

A lot of printers just can't print to the edge. It's a hardware thing

Claire,

In addition to what Monika said,if you need the artwork to fill the entire sheet of paper, for many/most printers you will need to cut the paper after printing.

If you need a specific paper size entirely filled with the artwork such as A4, you will need to print it on a larger size such as B4.
