Why can't I save as PNG on illustrator?

i go to export, export as PNG and it just stays on the PNG options for ages? and doesnt actually save? its only happened recently

Did you also try Save for Web or Export for screens?

Exactly where are you trying to save? If not on your local disk, please try that.

latest version of illustrator 2021, how do you save for web? it normally lets me export as npg though so not sure why now. how do you export for screens? im trying to save to my documents on macbook. what is local disk?

The anti aliasing options (Type or Art optimized) and transparent background can be changed by clicking the Cog wheel. The Resolution settings (1x 72 ppi, 2X 72 ppi and custom) are changed in the Save for web dialog.

how do you save every artboard by save the web?

If there is more than one artboard, then Save for Web is not practical.

So how many artboards are we talking about, how large are they and which options do you use when exporting?

The Quality in export for screens can be adjusted when you click on the cogwheel symbol.

if i want the quality to be good for export for screens what setting do i change it too? type optimised? art optimised? PNG8?

So you have found the cogwheel?

PNG-8 is like GIF and certainly not what you want for quality.

If there is no type, then you would usually want art optimized.

where is type? there is type optimised or art opitmised? so if i put it to art optimised? it will be good quality?

I guess you are able to judge quality. Why not try out what works best?

I already said that if there is no text/type in your document, then probably Art optimized works best.

what do i do if the export> export as PNG doesnt work anymore though? how do i resolve it? because it did used to do it? do i have to use export to screens all the time now?

You still have not told us if Export as used to work with these kind of files. Were other files just as big?

If you open one of yur old projects, does Export as then work?

yes it used to work with same big files

its 851MB its the latest 2021 version! and it normally works for me its only just stopped worked, i normally file, export, export as, PNG, and its stopped doing it! but it noramlly works! its a clothing techpack so its quite big but normally works!

Are all your other files the same size? The same niumber of artboards?
