I'm trying to achieve something like this worn wood look with a dark brown background and a lighter color on top, blue in this case, I'm looking for a repeatable easy solution to this, my skills are limited 😞
I would perhaps look into Photoshop for this.
Also there should be more tutorials and ready made textures.
With Illustrator this would get very stylized.

For what do you need this? In an illustration? Pure vector?
As a 3D material?
For printing?

Please elaborate.
What exactly is it you want to do. You say you have no experience. This actually requires quite a bit of experience. So what are you doing?

First of all, thanks for taking the time to respond to my question. I'm trying to UV print signs on wood that have the look in the picture. It would speed up the process of having to actually stain/paint and sand if I could just print that look of an old distressed worn-painted board. I have to be able to do this on multiple sizes so using a photo format background sometimes becomes distorted. My first idea was to have the dark background putting a lighter layer on top and have the edges of this top layer feathered/distorted to let the brown edges show up. I do have some experience but I'm no way an expert. Again thanks for your help.
