Hello, I am a creative cloud subscriber on my desktop. I want to install adobe illustrator on my iPad, but the App Store is saying I have to pay for the app. Can anyone tell me how to get the app on my iPad using my existing creative cloud account?
thanks!

Can you show a screenshot of that? Does the Apple Store demand the payment?

Illustrator on iPad is included with your Illustrator subscription. Try signing out and then sign in again. Use your Adobe ID (not your Apple ID).

Did you try signing out on the iPad, then signing in again with the same Adobe ID and PW you use for Creative Cloud?
If that fails, try deleting the app from your iPad, then download it again from the App Store on the iPad. Be sure to use the correct ID and PW to sign into Illustrator for iPad.

Hi Jane,
I'm assuming you mean to sign out of ADOBE on my iPad, but I do not have any Adobe products on my iPad at the moment. I subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud for my laptop, so on my iPad, I used the Chrome browser to log into my Adobe Creative Cloud account, located the link to download Illustrator onto my iPad, and clicked on it, only to be taken to the Apple App Store, where the message "in-app purchase" pops up. I went so far to email myself the link from my LAPTOP to the download, as what I was seeing on my laptop showed "FREE" for the download. Not so, though, because when I opened my email on my iPad and clicked the link, it took me back to the Apple App Store and again, I got the message "in-app purchase" --this has been really frustrating and I don't want to pay an additional fee for installing on my iPad when everything I see says I can install it with my current subscription. Adobe isn't making something clear, for certain. And I received no help from chatting with Adobe. It was like they had no clue. 😞

Are these two Adobe IDs or two people?
I think you're making it more complex than you need to. You don't need your laptop or email or a browser.
You can also download the Creative Cloud app on your iPad. You'll need it if you want to use Adobe Fonts, for instance.
You do not need to pay an additional fee. It's included with your paid subscription to Illustrator for desktop.
If you have two Adobe IDs, you might be using the wrong one.

Jane, thanks for your help. I don't have two Adobe IDs. I went through the previously mentioned steps in hopes of acquiring a link that did not require an "in-app purchase" but with no luck.
It's been my experience that if I download an app with "in-app purchase" message from the Apple Store, I am charged immediately. This morning I decided I'd go ahead and download the app and risk the charge, with the intent to cancel if Apple charged me. To my surprise and great relief, I was not charged.
I think it would be most helpful if instructions from Adobe included a "disregard the in-app purchase" message so it's clear there is no fee for those with subscriptions already.
Thanks again for your persistence in helping me achieve my goal. 🙂

You're welcome, Creative Photo 🙂, and I'm glad you have Illustrator for iPad downloaded.
I usually ignore the "in-app purchases" on the App Store because I know I won't make any. Here's an excellent explanation of what in-app purchases are. It's geared toward developers, not users, but is easy to understand (and I learned something!)
I suspect that Adobe cannot add extra instructions on the App Store, as they would be required to follow the rules set out by Apple. Adobe does use their own website to say that Illustrator for iPad is included.
I hope this helps.

I understand your frustration. As a Creative Cloud subscriber, you should have access to the Adobe Illustrator app on your iPad. To resolve this issue, I would suggest trying the following steps:
Also, ensure that you are using "Continue with Adobe ID" while sign in instead of gmail option.
I hope this helps! Let us know if you need any further assistance.
Best,

I tried following your above steps, but the Creative Cloud app ALSO requires an in-app purchase. Any suggestions?

Maybe you should contact Apple Customer support.
Or try and figure it out with the help of Adobe Customer Care: https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html

I tried chatting with Adobe yesterday to know avail. They kept switching me from tech support to account services until I finally got aggravated enough to end the chat. I may contact Apple.

I am experiencing this same issue. Did you ever get it resolved?

Yes it was resolved. See the answer from @vhCreativePhoto above.

I decided to download the app to my iPad and risk the charge, with the intent to challenge it afterward. It's been a while since my original post and I don't recall the exact way it played out, but I was not charged. I seem to remember that there was a point where I had to sign in to my account with Adobe, which made them aware I was already a subscriber.
Get ready! An upgraded Adobe Community experience is coming in January.
