Hi,

Online I am finding this issue with Adobe Illustrator coming up a lot but with no solution?

Has this problem with Adobe Illustrator been fixed or a solution provided? I am unable to currently export any SVG files as it crashes Illustrator and is an urgent work issue currently.

Thank you.

There are 3 ways I know of to save an SVG out of Illustrator CC2015 and they're a little different from one another.

1. The Export function, which is obviously broken for you.

2. Choose Save As and select .SVG from the Save as Type dropdown menu (a different dialogue window opens when you do this and may not crash the program)

3. This may seem just wrong, but I promise it will work...

On your artwork file, Select All > Copy > open a text file in Notepad or similar > Paste > You should get something

Do you have the latest version?

In that case contact customer care.

Contact Customer Care

If you don't have the latest version, we need more details. A lot more details.

Version, system?

Does that happen with any file?

Also newly created ones

What's in the file

Exactly how do you export?

Exactly which options?

BTW: no problem here saving SVGs. Maybe check your harddrive for errors.

Upgrading to CC2017 is not an option?

THe SVG export has been improved  - especially the generated code.

Where do you save the files?

To a network?

Which destination do you specify for the save? Or does it crash as soon as you open the dialog box?

When did you last restart that computer?

Have you already tried resetting preferences?

How to set preferences in Illustrator

If resetting the prefs does not work, you might also try uninstalling, running the Adobe Cleaner tool and then reinstalling

But if that fails as well, you will need to contact Customer Care. Have you been logged in, when using that page? Or did they direct you here because of the version? What about upgrading your version?

Hi,

I have since last been on thos thread updated my illustrator software, preferences, and windows on my computer.  Illustrator will still not save SVG files.  I tried to speak with a customer care chat person who was extreamly rude and unhelpful and so much time has been wasted.  I have found the support from Adobe to be terrible and it is very frustrating and disappointing!

Hi Eimear,

Sorry for the bad experience. Were you able to export by following the above suggestions? What's the OS running in your machine? Did you try updating Illustrator to CC 2017 version? If not, please do and then check.

Regards,

Om

Exactly how are yu exporting the files?

What's in the files?

What's happening?

And since this thread is 4 years old and the solution doesn't help you anyway: how about creating your own new thread?
