illustrator freezes on opening with M1 macbook

Hi,

 

Illustrator will not load on my M1 Macbook Pro. It freezes as soon as it starts to load.

I have the latest version installed. It's so frustrating as I have to use my old machine for any illustrator work. I can't even uninstall because Creative Cloud is also non-responsive.

What's the fix here?
