Outlines on text not working

When creating texts to outlines it only allows me to edit the anchor points if I click Ctrl then it shows me the anchor points. Trying to figure out why I have to hold down Ctrl to get all the anchor points and for me to edit them. .

What tool is active when you click on the outlined text? Holding down the Control (or Command on a Mac) is only necessary if one of the Selection tools is not active. With outlined text use the Direct Selection Tool (the white arrow at the top of the tool bar). This is your best bet as it will select individual points rather than the whole group of outlined text.
