Hi, I am using ai to editing several matlab-generated svg files. There are text and 2 images(mosaic of heatmap, which lookes like vectorized, but should be NxM grid of pixels with different intensity).
After I edit the text and save file, there are two new png files with name like "72ADADF.png" auto-generated, and the svg file no longer has images. The svg opens Ok only when png is aside svg file. If I move the svg to another place, the two images are blank and ai prompt me to check/update the link to image.
How can this happen? I attached one example file.
Thank you.
SVG is not a native file format in Illustrator.
You can try if it acts differently when you "Save as" and edit the options.
Or use the other methods of exporting SVG and edit the options.

A more horrible thing is that soetimes only one png is generated, and when open svg again, all the two images are the same as that one. the other image is gone!

Exactly how do you save the files and which options?
If that is in fact an embedded image or Illustrator cannot save it as vector data in the SVG, then it will generate pixels.

I just open svg edit then Ctrl+S to save.
If it is volxed image, why it remove the image to outside svg? The initial svg file contains all images.
