Why does Illustrator keep duplicating brushes?

Hello,

I have the issue that Illustrator keeps duplicating brushes (without notifying me) and then forcing me to delete them. Why does this happen? How can I stop it from happening?

And this happens out of the blue? You're not duplicating objects?

It doesn't happen out of the blue, but I'm not sure what causes it. I am sure it's not duplication, as I never do that in my current project.

This was a very aggressive issue with older versions, but should have been fixed by now.

But if you have old files that still contain the bug, then maybe it has the potential to reappear (although there should be an automatic file fix built into Illustrator)

This file was created about 3 months ago, not longer. I hope some solution comes up, its mostly an inconvenience, but it's also a problem, as at times it causes loss of elements in my artwork.

Do you have any third party plugins installed?
