Hello,

About the Book mode, I have 3 chapters and would like to send the content of the whole Book to reviewers.

What is the best solution, and how to do it  ? Is it by using InCopy or other way ?

From the Book menu, export all the chapters to PDF. That's the most universal format, and can be locked against things like printing and copying if needed.

This is fairytale for Vienna Woods. If someone wants — he will destroy this protection.

I'm well aware of how weak PDF (and nearly all other e-doc) security is... about like that of most home front doors.

I was suggesting that for distribution among more or less trustworthy reviewers, being able to prevent them from easily or accidentally copying the material might be useful.

The bottom line is that ID is not easy to circulate for review outside its own ecosystem.

There are many ways to do it

And only you can decide which of these methods is closely to your destination.

My reviewers don't have Indesign.

My goal would be that they can modify the text themselves, and that it could be updated aitomatically in my file. So you think the best is to use InCopy workflow ? But I need a very simple way to do it for my reviewers : is it difficult to learn InCopy ?

Actually my reviewers work on Word. Is it a better way to give up Word and choose InCopy for them ?

Is there any one word about InDesign for you reviewers? Ok, let's say one word too here - LayoutZone.

>> they can modify the text themselves

>> best is to use InCopy

Yes.

>> is it difficult to learn InCopy ?

For you reviewer it will be like work with Word.

Main thing here that you are need to learn, not write here. Start with some course about InCopy on linkedinlearning, for example. There is no magic button here.

>> Is it a better way to give up Word

Let's word to indesign then indesign to word and then word to indesign again workflow fire in hell. Forget about it. Plugin that do that (CopyFlow) isn't available.

If your goal is to allow reviewers to modify texts of some InDesign documents, InCopy is definitely a very good solution. Users will see the layout, but won't be able to modify it. They will be able to apply paragraph and character styles but won't be able to modify them. It's very easy to learn and to use.

Can you tell us how to review whole the book inside InDesign?

Can you tell us why do you need to open all indd files at once instead one of many inside a book?

Please, pardon me: Don't tear us apart with your no-sense questions.

Do your questions more straight.

But, there are no any problems to open part of indd (assignments), one of story only (sic!) and even one of indd that a part of your indb

Why do you want to share the whole book for review? One of the purpose of InCopy is to allow multiple users to work on different parts of the same file.

@jmlevy

In a case where I have to send the whole book to the author of the book, is it possible to use InCopy, and how to select the whole book into indesign and assign it to the author in order he can review it inside InCopy ?

@pierret18811376 just to clarify: what do you mean by “book”? A single InDesign file containing chapters or separate InDesign files managed by a indb file (what InDesign calls a book)? If it is a indb file with multiple files, I don't think that it is possible to get a single InCopy file. If it is a single InDesign file, you can easily create an InCopy assignment containing numerous stories using this menu:

To be more clear :

I have seen that we can select a part of the page (by example a text frame) and assign this text frame to one people in order it can review it inside InCopy.

But now, how to select all the book (made in indesign) and assign all this book to one people in order to be reviewed inside InCopy ?

Shared folder with all of indd-files (and others, do package) through VPN. Don't forget to do an incremental backup every few hours.
