8.0 Release Book Module

Community Beginner ,
Oct 21, 2018 Oct 21, 2018

I've just updated LR Classic CC to Release 8.0.

I have a book that I have been working on that I am trying to edit, however my text edits evaporate when I exit and re-open. This is highly frustrating as I can't actually make and save changes/ corrections to my book. Changes to my photos using the develop module appear to be functioning and saving normally.

Also, no matter which page was highlighted when exiting, LR Classic CC Book Module always opens to the same page (I think it is the page that was highlighted when I did the update to Release 8.0).

Please please please can somebody help me with this, I have a lot of re-work to do (because they are edits I have only just noticed the issue) and I'd really like to have my confidence restored in using this feature (the Book Module) which has improved so much with its usability in the last few months through a few subtle changes.

Many thanks,

David

I wonder if I can keep both version 7.5 and version 8.0 installed and use 7.5 only for the book module. Can anyone answer this?

Well, I don't think it is possible to have both versions installed, downloading one version deletes the other one. Possibly - in case you have two computors. But that is not the way to go. It is really a shame that Adobe doesn't react; it seems nobody is reading this forum. I had this problem almost a month ago, as I was preparing a book, I switched to 7.5, finished the book and forgot about it. And now I realize that the problem is not solved yet. Adobe, wake up!

I am seriously considering switching to Capture One.

The way this has not been handled by adobe is wrong. Also the image setting are all slight different between 7.5 and 8.0. There are changes in the color balance and the noise reduction and sharpen. ADOBE! We have lost confidence in your company.

The problem with the Book Module in Version 8.0 appears to be fixed in 8.1. Edits and new pages are surviving module change as wells as restarts.

Yes that seems to have been fixed and also the problem of disappearing text on a final page is also fixed. A new feature in 8.1 is snap to grid. This is useful when designing custom pages. It’s activated in the Guides panel when snap to grid is chosen together with page grid.
