Windows 11, Lightroom 12.3
Using Auto Import, the lens profile is missing for Nikon Z 50 raw files (don't have other Z cameras, so don't know).
When import manually, the lens profile is correct "built-in".
Auto Import works well for DSLR with correct lens profile..

To test my understanding, when your Z 50 raws are imported with the Import window, they show the message "Built-in Lens Profile applied", but when you import them via File > Auto Import, that message is not displayed.
It sounds like you're tripping over an intermittent LR bug that a number of Nikon Z users have encountered, where LR indeed automatically applies the lens profiles embedded in the raw file by Nikon, but LR fails to display that message correctly.
Workarounds that have helped others with this:
1. Make sure Lens Corrections > Enable Profile Corrections is unchecked.
2. In Develop, zoom the image to 100% and the message could appear.
3. Build 1:1 Library previews before editing the photo.
4. Reset LR's preferences.

If it happens repeatedly, resetting preferences might make it go away.
