Backup on import doesn't work

New Here ,
Oct 01, 2017 Oct 01, 2017

Hi,

sorry, this may be a newbie question, but I didn't find the answer in the FAQs.

I'm using LR6. When importing pictures from my camera's, I set all the relevant options according to the manual, i.e. find my new pictures on the memory card, and select the primary destination on an external hard drive. I'm also selecting the "make a second copy" option, and select a location on a second external hard drive. However, whatever I do, the picture files are NOT copied to the secondary destination, only to the primary. Has anybody experienced that before? Any remedies?

Thanks for the help!!!

Just to make sure - you should see a folder called "Imported on [date]" inside the secondary folder you specified, as opposed to a folder name matching your primary - it's meant to be only a temporary safety backup.  If this isn't the case, I'd next check that the secondary drive is working, writeable, etc. Beyond that, I'm at a loss.

Are you getting any error messages indicating that the second copy isn't being made? Can you post a screen shot of the import screeen with the File Handling panel open to show the second drive location? And another screen shot of the secondary drive? As Joey mentions you should see an Imported on directory that corresponds to the date of import.

Can you post a screen shot of your import dialog box?
