Black screen on Slideshow start

Community Beginner ,

When I start a slideshow I mostly get a Total black screen. If I let it go for a time and click on the screen I go back to the Lightoom screen. I can see that the slidescreen has started because the highlighted image on the film strip has moved from left to right.

I have a saved slide show that worked once then I get the black screen each time. I have another slideshow that always works correctly. I believe I created them the same way but wouldn't bet on it.

They are very simple slideshows with no fancy options and with 'standard' quality

Please try switch off the GPU support from the Lightroom preferences and check if that helps to fix the issue

Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance tab > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" > Restart Lightroom.

Thank you for the response. I have checked the graphics as you advised and found it to be 'unchecked'.

However, after I sent my request I tried more slideshows and had 100% success, I have no idea why.

Thank you again, I will be back again if I have the problem again.

A simple 'over-sight' that has caught me out-

I had the "Intro Screen" option checked (defaults to Black), and "Manual" playback set.

[Play] was just showing the black intro screen waiting for a key press!

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 14.5.1, Photoshop 26.10, ACR 17.5, Lightroom 8.5, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 15.1.1 .

I have the same problem on LrC 13.1 Mac Mini M2 Pro. I created a slideshow collection over over 1,000 images (!) each around 50MB (Fujifilm X-T5 Raw) and pressed preview and just got a black screen. I switched off graphics acceleration and restarted LrC but that didn't fix it so I turned it back on. Then I tried previewing another collection of around 20-30 images and that worked fine. Then I tried the large collection again and this time it started but after every few slides the screen went blank for a few seconds and then continued. I'm guessing it's something to do with the number and size of images. Appreciate thoughts from anybody. Thanks.

You’ve posted to an ancient thread. It is highly unlikely that the issue described in this thread, though not impossible, is the same one you are currently experiencing. Rather than resurrect an old thread that is seemingly similar, you are better off posting to a new thread with fresh, complete information, including system information, a complete description of the problem, and step-by-step instructions for reproduction.

If the issue is the same, we will merge you back into the appropriate location.

Thank you!
