Brighten photo before MANUAL noise reduction? — to more clearly see how much noise you've got

Hi,

As noise is more likely to appear in dark areas, I was wondering if many people brighten their photo before doing NR so they can fully see whether they are eliminating the noise, OR if you cannot see it clearly i.e. the noise hides in the shadows, you don't worry about it.

I guess this question can be related to what order do you do your editing in?, as if you do NR after exposure + highlights etc. then you may see more or less noise in the photo depending on if it got brightened or darkened.

thanks

thanks for the reply. I guess I'm trying to breakdown #4 global edits — exposure + highlights etc. before Manual NR?
