Camera Raw edits through Bridge are not showing

Hello,

I prefer to edit my raw images in Camera Raw through Adobe Bridge because it's SO much faster than Lightroom. However, I love Lightroom for its cataloging features and overall viewing of images.

So first I edit in Adobe Camera Raw, then I import the images into my Lightroom catalog.

The problem is that when I import raw images into Lightroom, it does not keep any of my raw edits.

I've tried both .dng and .cr3 files, along with embedding the xmp in the dng file and also as a sidecar item. According to this article, all I need to do is ensure that the .xmp files are in the same folder when importing into lightroom. Unfortnately that doesnt work

How can I view my raw edits made in Camera Raw when importing them into Lightroom?

Thanks in advance

Concerning the LrC performance try resetting LrC Preferences file as outlined in the below article.

If the performance issues remain go to Edit Preferences Performance, set 'Use Graphics Processor to Off, and Close and Relaunch LrC. See if that helps. If not try changing your display profile as outlined at the below article.

Thanks, I have made those changes after discovering them. The setting is off sicne I do most of my edits in Bridge, I just manually update the files when in LR.

The speed is still an issue. My only guess is my system is a bit old, and graphics card dated. I did a test on ym wifes computer which is a 2019 iMac 27" with thes spec: https://d.pr/i/fFmMCT

It is much faster than my old 2014 model. There was still a slight delay when previeing images at 100%, but it loads fully in a second or so. So it seems it might only come down to my hardware. Time to buya new machine.

Forgot to add to make sure you are using the latest versions of Camera Raw, LrC, and PS. In LrC go to Help> About Lightroom Classic, which should show as 10.4 Release and Camera Raw 13.4. Next open PS and go to Help> About Photoshop, which should show 22.5.1. Next go to Help> About Plugins> Camera Raw, which should show as 13.4.0.872.

@Blasty, you stated “ DdeGannes said ... "If there is XMP data available at import to LrC it will be read."
This only happens if I choose to update the meta data from the file."

Yes I did make that but I just wish to clarify. LrC will read info from the XMP file if it is present at the time of import.

It will not happen to imports done prior to activating the option, however it will continue to do so for future imports so long as the option “ Automatically write xmp to file “ is active.

LrC does not automatically read info made to the XMP files outside of the application.

Some other related info, LrC is a complete standalone application and it functions by it's self and it does not require any other Adobe application for it to function. It does not require Photoshop and the Camera Raw plugin to be installed.

LrC has the functions of Camera Raw plugin built-in the application.

LrC does not communicate with Bridge, that's why you would need to activate the write metadata to the file either automatically or manually so Bridge can apply the edits in Camera Raw.

For LrC the info is in the Catalog file.

For Bridge / Camera Raw the info is in the file.

LrC, Library Module and Develop Module are an alternative to Bridge / Camera Raw.

They function differently.
