And this card reader works outside of LrC?

If so, first workaround is to copy the photos to your desired folder on desired hard drive, outside of LrC, then in LrC import using the Add option.

I have copied the files to an external hard drive as a workaround, but it shouldn't be like that.  It has worked "normally" for years and I don't want the extra step in the workflow.

In order for the workaround to work the card reader has to be working, as it has for years.

Here is a screen shot of the import screen as you have requested.

  • What is the make/model of that card reader?
  • What is the make/model for the card?
  • What port do you plug it into? One off your computer, or off a hub?
  • What drive letter should it show up as?
  • Do you have Windows permanently assign a drive letter to the card reader?

and as DdeGannes is asking, is it showing up using Windows File Explorer?

Sorry for the delay in replying to you.  I have requested an email when someone replies but I am not getting it at the moment.

Yes it does recognise the card and reader.

Any suggestions?

Does this happen with all your cards or a specific oner?

I have this issue with one particular card I have, where I have to instert it several times until eventually Lightroom does recognise it. It's a bit annoying but eventually it works, so I;m assuming the issue is with the card or reader rather than Lightroom.
