I recently had to reinstalled windows and all the applications on my laptop.
After setting up Adobe Lightroom Classic again, I get the following error when I try to open LrC
Lightroom Classic Error: An error prevented Lightroom Classic from opening this catalog.
I tried this https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/lightroom-error-catalog-cannot-be-opened-lrcat-lock.htm...
as well as https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/failure-in-opening-catalog.html
But both did help to solve the problem. And I am still getting the same error message.
My catalog is located in this folder.
C:\Users\[username]\OneDrive\Pictures\Lightroom

But both did help to solve the problem.
I assume you mean "But both did NOT help to solve the problem." Is that correct?

What I did in this situation was copy the catalog file and associated previews to a brand new empty folder on the same disk, and then open the catalog file from this new folder, and then everything worked. Once this is done and working, you can delete the original catalog file and associated previews.
I do not have an explanation about why this worked, other than perhaps some sort of disk malfunction (but I don't really have confidence in that explanation)

Try opening Lightroom while holding the option key. Select your catalog and check the "test integrity o this catalog" check box. Let it do its thing. Maybe it will fix the issue. Your catalog might be too corrupted for this to work and in that case you want to recover it from a backup.

Hi Jao,
Tried the "test integrity ...." to open but still got the same error, so guess must be the corruption . . . .
So resorted to recover from a backup.
Thanks.
ps: Learned something new from your explanations. Holding "Option"("Alt" for windows) to choose different folders.
