In the task manager it seems like its running, but it aint. And it aint on the second screen.

It only shows the name in the top of the screen, and then two files "blink" that ends with shm and wal.

Tried all ideas from youtube, google etc.

Tried to run it as an admin, uinstall, update products etc.

Cant find a .lock file either.

Can someone help?

In a first step try to reset the preferences to the default settings by doing the following steps:

  • Close Lightroom.
  • Windows: Hold down [Alt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
  • Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
  • Close Lightroom.
  • Restart Lightroom.

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/preference-file-and-other-file-locations.html

The next is to try the following steps:

  • Close Lightroom
  • Backup the folder : C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom to a save location and then rename it to LightroomOld
  • Restart Lightroom

Another try is to hold the Ctrl-Key while starting LrC. This opens a catalog selection dialog.

Select the appropriate catalog and let check it – note the checkmark to check its integrity. If that does not help, try to create a new one and see if this catalog then works. You could then try to import your current catalog into the new one.

If this already doesn't help, provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the LrC Help > System Info menu item. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.

What has been changesd on your system before the issue occur?

The lock file gets creates when you open a LrC catalog. It should get deleted when you properly close a LrC catalog. The purpose of the lock file is to prevent multiple instances of a catalog being in use. Just one catalog by one person on one computer at a time. If LrC crashes, or you have to force quit LrC, then that lock file does not get deleted, then when you try to open that LrC catalog, it fails to so so.

Is that what is occurring, is the lock file not getting deleted?

Because you appear to have your catalog file on the Desktop, I might also suggest you move your catalog (.LRCAT file) to a sub-folder in Documents (or My Pictures, etc).

FILE LOCATIONS

Start it from the new location by [Double-Click].  Then you avoid seeing all the temporary lightroom process files also on the desktop.

This might also fix the 'opening' problem if it happens that the Desktop is set to 'Read Only', meaning that Lr-Classic cannot fully Read&Write to the desktop 'folder'.

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 14.3, Photoshop 26.6, ACR 17.3, Lightroom 8.3, Lr-iOS 9.0.1, Bridge 15.0.4 .

Ah, I missed that the files were on the desktop, despite being in plain site!

Now re-looking at that, I now notice on two of the files, a small cloud icon apparently associated, is some sort of cloud sync going in?

In LrC, click on Help, then System Info, note the info about library path. Can you post in a reply that info?
