Copy & Paste Not Working in New Version 14

New Here ,
Oct 16, 2024 Oct 16, 2024

Just updated my Lightroom Classic to Version 14.0, and the "Copy" and "Paste" buttons and menu functions are not working properly. The buttons do not function at all, and the drop-down menu option works sporadically. This is a vital function! Please fix!

Tested LrC 14.0 on Windows 10.

I am not able to replicate this issue.

Have you tried resetting your preferences?

This procedure works for both Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Desktop.

If you are using Lightroom Desktop, it can change your local storage location. Please review this setting after resetting preferences.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.

2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.

3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.

Hey Rikk, would you mind sharing a screenshot of the preferences dialog screen that needs to be overwritten please? I don't seem to have it when following your steps, thanks a lot!

Hello,

I did that (on windows 11 for me)
Didn't work.

As I mentioned in a later comment, resetting the settings applied on a photo then applying works)
Workflow turnaround all with keybaord shortcuts:
- Copy settings from photo 1
- Paste settings on photo 2 (doesn't do anything)
- Reset settings on photo 2
-Paste settings on photo 2 (Now it's working)

"correct answer?" No it's not.  I have tried every suggestion on this page and none of them worked.  Copy, paste.  Paste works on image 2, but that's it.  This is a REAL problem for me.  Who do we call to get this issue resolved?  I can't edit thousands of images without using copy/paste.

Same problem on a mac M1 laptop OS Sonoma 14.7, 32 gigs ram. Since the 14.0.1 update copy/paste settings doesn't work and gives the (mis-spelled) error message: "some masking models failed to download. pease try again later." have tried restart while signed into my account, resetting prefs. this is a compunded problem that has existed since since LRC 13 which was getting that same masking error message when trying to apply any of the presets. this occurs even when there are no masks in the copied settings. adobe pease try to fix this or give me a solutuion. btw, the same mask error message appears when using sync settings between pictures to try and get around the copy/paste proble,. adobe pease fix this.

Hello,

Same problem for me on windows 11, in library mode, Paste doesn't work except if I reset the settings of the photo before, then it works. If settings are already applied, it doesn't update.

I’ve found a temporary solution.
Copy the desired settings from the edited picture, go to the raw or
untouched, click on the picture to zoom it 100% and control/V in PC.
Works all the time for me.

Good luck!

Hello,

Didn't tried that but another thing that works and is quite bizarre :

Resetting the settings (EVEN IF the photo hasn't any settings applied) then, applying with CTRL+V
Settings are then applied.

This is weird and time consuming.

Syncing doesn't seem to have this problem, fortunately.

sadly, that solution doesn't work here, paste settings fails with same error message.:

some masking models failed to download. please try again later

also tried solution from above suggesting a reset of the target picture before pasting but that didn't work either.

i contacted adobe tech support by phone yesterday (after several hours of waiting and multiple disconnects) i finally was able to do a remote session with an adobe tech support person. his solution was a manual cleanup, which uninstalled all my adobe apps and used an online adobe cleaner tool to remove all adobe related files, prefs & old install files from the mac (excluding the apps that was 25 gigs of stuff). we then did a clean install of all my adobe apps, minus prefs which may have been corrupted. this process took over an hour but it fixed the LRC settings cut/paste and the preset "bugs". i'm a fairly knowledgeable mac system user and could watch and follow what he did but it was nothing a "civilian" could have done and wasn't a problem that could have been dealt with in a chat. interesting to me that i had previosly done a LRC uninstall and reinstall through the creative cloud app but this apparently doesn't really uninstall previous files that may be problematic/corrupted and left behind in successive updates and installs.

I just ran into this issue, and resetting my preferences is a huge PITA!  Unfortunately, I'm married to Lightroom, and nothing I've tried comes close for my workflow.  I just spend an hour tinkering around instead of getting my work done.  This program still constantly crashes navigating through images in Develop mode, and when you return it forgets where you were.  It is SO BUGGY.  Most of the fancy new features don't work on HEIF or JPG images either.  What else is broken that I can no longer trust?!
