Just started today. When I pick out a picture in LIBRARY, highlight it, select the DEVELOP tab, a certain wrong picture shows up. This wrong picture shows up no matter how many different pictures I select in Library!
So, I pick picture A, B, C, D, E and what always shows up in DEVELOP window is picture Z.
Help appreciated.
OK - Problem solved. I "jiggled all the wires under the hood." Exit with catalog backup, restart windows, restart LR - all is well.
Sorry for the panic attack. I appreciate all the fast help!

After making your selections in the Library press B on the keyboard to add to a quick collection.
Then select the quick collection from the Catalog panel and then go to Develop.
You should be able to choose each image in turn from the film strip to edit.
When you finish in develop right-click (control-click) on the quick collection to clear it for next time.
Your edited photos remain in the original folder(s).

Jon, that seems a roundabout workflow... any ideas what is actually happening? I remember a bug a couple versions back where incorrect images were selected.
Mark, what version of LR are you using? What OS?

It could be a bug Mike. To see what is happening I would need to see a screen shot. The tool bar should show the number of files selected and the source folder or collection.

Tried 99Jon solution - no joy.
I'm using LR 6.5.1 on Windows 10.

Has worked just fine for months. Never saw this issue before. Been using LR since V. 3 or 4.
I have about 20 folders in my catalog. In some folders, the selections work right. In most folders, selecting a pic and then selecting DEVELOP brings up a random pic. Sometimes the pic is persistent. Meaning, if Pic Z shows up, it will show up for many selections. Then maybe Pic Y begins to show up. I see no pattern.
I will try a screen shot
