I am using "adobe photoshop lightroom 4.1" on an imac. when I export "original + settings" I lose the edit, but the file is capitalized DNG and the size is 44.4 mb, when I download as dng, the edit remains, I get a lowercase dng, and the file size is 28.5 mb, both are 4000x6000-
I'm going to be storing these on an external hard drive to save room on my internal, my question is, is the lowercase comprimised in anyway? Where did the other 16 mb go?
Halp !

Very likely the original DNG has the original raw photo embedded in it, but when you exported it, you didn't select the option Embed Original Raw File:
Whether that matters, I can't say. On the one hand, Adobe claims that converting a raw to a DNG preserves all the image information from the raw; but on the other hand, it provides an Embed option, implying that they don't have 100% confidence that the DNG really does preserve all the image information.
