 Hi

 I am working in LRC.

I have "embedded preview" on my photos which doesnt allow me to edit. I went into preferences but the right hand side is all greyed out. Any suggestions? Thanks

'Embedded previews' should not stop you from editing photos, but 'missing' photos does. Can you post a screenshot that illustrates the problem?

Post a screenshot of the Library grid. Your second screenshot strongly suggests that you have missing photos (that is why all the 'Edit in' options are dimmed), but I can't tell from these screenshots. Embedded previews almost certainly have nothing to do with this.
