Errors posting to Facebook in Lightroom 4

New Here ,
Mar 18, 2012 Mar 18, 2012

Hello,

I recently setup a Facebook connection in Lightroom 4, and everything Authorized properly, however, when I go to publish a photo, any photo, I get an error back stating "Photo Upload Failed" and when I click OK, a second box pops up saying "Cannot Update this Collection".  The strange part is 50% of the time the photos actually do upload to Facebook, but they are never marked as such in Lightroom, so every time I publish it tried to reupload the photos.  What am I doing wrong here?  Elements seems to work fine, and Lightroom 3.6 worked fine from this same PC.  I did a fresh install of Lightroom 4, built a new Catalog, still the same problem.

Samething happens to me. Using LR4 and this also used to happen in all versions of 3.x. Facebook uploading is hit or miss. I blame it on Facebook. Even when using their new uploader in Firefox, uploads fail.

I get the same message as with 4.3 and prior versions, upload failed. No error message was returned from fb... I then click ok and try again and again and again etc pp. 20 pics took me all evening to upload that way. I am on wifi and there is other traffic going on and I am on a 20mbit line, stopping all other traffic just for LR doesn't do anything either though it still fails 9 out of 10 times. I tried iPhoto just for giggles and upload went through fast and smooth to fb... Back to LR and upload failed again, I even downsized 12mp to 3 mp jpgs to no avail. I haven't tried wired connection since I don't have a cable that is long enough.

Installed the latest 4.4 full release and I can still only upload zero to four photos at a time before it fails with the "Photo upload failed, but no error string was returned from Facebook" message.  And now with 4.4 officially released, it looks like we're going to have to wait several months before we have any chance of seeing this one fixed.

FWIW, all the usual "solutions" I see on other forums were tried.  The facebook app was deleted and re-granted permissions, permissions were manually changed to "Everyone", browser was closed so no other connections to facebook, etc.

The log file the plugin allows me to save simply contains the following useless information:

Plug-in error log for plug-in at: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.4\Facebook.lrplugin

**** Error 1

This plug-in’s post-processing task did not finish successfully.

Could not get album info from Facebook.

**** Error 2

This plug-in’s post-processing task did not finish successfully.

Photo upload failed, but no error string was returned from Facebook.

**** Error 3

This plug-in’s post-processing task did not finish successfully.

Photo upload failed, but no error string was returned from Facebook.

**** Error 4

This plug-in’s post-processing task did not finish successfully.

Photo upload failed, but no error string was returned from Facebook.

OK, we'll take another swing at this in our next build. All we can see is that the FB server times out and stops talking to us at some point; we don't know why. Smaller images typically work better, though I see some of you have also tried that.

There is no RC2, this release is the final of 4.4.

Duh... Well maybe there will be a 4.4.1 sometime soon for a 'hotfix' ...
