FOr better quality and reduce the file size, Am I better to check the box to limit the file size like let say 3000k or use the image resize option like limit the long edge to 2000 pxs?

What is the better option?

Thanks.

Claude

FOr better quality and reduce the file size,

I hope you realize that these two conditions are opposite, if you want better quality, you usually increase the file size.

Am I better to check the box to limit the file size like let say 3000k or use the image resize option like limit the long edge to 2000 pxs?

It depends on what you are doing, it depends on what you plan to do with the exported photos.

In most cases, I would think a 2000 pixel on the long side should be sufficient. But you will have to experiment and examine the results for yourself. PPI (or DPI as many like to refer to it) really has no bearing here. As you have so keenly observed, a 20 MP image probably isn't going to be required in most instances. You might want to export a different image when considering print requirements.

If you are really concerned about image quality in your exported images, you wouldn't want to limit the file size in any way.

The images are mostly going to be used for Real Estate listings and some for print for feature sheets.

That's not really useful information to me, as I have no idea what quality/size requirements are appropriate for real estate listings. Can you state some more specific information about what you need, such as number of pixels or number of megabytes required?

Sounds like you need two different exports for the two very different uses:

- for printing: no resizing, 90% quality JPG

- for web viewing: resize to 2000 px, 80% JPG quality

These closely resemble my usual settings for such purposes.
