For years, when I've exported a RAW file to a jpg, if I were to go back and make some tweaks the that image in Lightroom and then export it again, I'd get the popup asking if I want to overwrite it, skip, or use a unique name. I'd hit "overwrite", and it would simply replace that jpg in the folder.
Now, it's suddenly sending the old one to the trash, and writing the new one to the folder. How can I turn this off? I regularly go back and make adjustments and then overwrite. I don't want my Trash being filled up with dozens of images all the time.

I had not notice this yet, but is it really such a big deal to empty the trash? I empty the trash at least once every day anyway.

Yes, fair enough. I just wondered if this can be turned off.

There is no setting, but I will test tomorrow if I see the same thing. It may be an issue with your copy of MacOS, rather than something that was changed in Lightroom Classic on purpose.

I just tested it, and I see the same thing. It may still be MacOS that is doing this, but because overwriting a file in the Finder does not send the old copy to the trash, it seems it's Lightroom Classic allright.

Interesting. Thank you for confirming.
