Face detection privacy?

Engaged ,
Dec 22, 2021 Dec 22, 2021

'Face detection' and 'Address lookup' features are great... but a question arose recently about privacy and security recently with this technology in work projects. Is data such as faces local to each machine with lightroom on it... or is that data processed externally through a server / Adobe Sensei servers? ... I tried running face detection with no-internet connection and it seemed to work fine so I assume it's only local catalogue data that is created?

With Lightroom Classic it's local whereas with Lightroom Desktop it's server side (Sensei)

To build on Ian's reply, in LR Classic address lookup does send the GPS coordinates to Google's servers.
