Find Missing Folder error

I moved some files from a folder to a new drive.  A few of the files (~300) were moved using LR, but it became clear is was going to take many hours (>20K files), so I stopped and used Explorer to move the rest.   After they all finally transferred, the folder in the original drive had a ? on it and indicated the folder was missing.  I clicked the folder and selected find the missing folder, then selected the folder located in the new drive.  It then alerted me to the fact that the folder already was in LrC and asked if I wanted to Merge.  I said yes.  I then get this error message:

DClark064_0-1726368565244.png

This is an error message that gives me no idea what is wrong.  If I click OK, LrC consumes ~5% of CPU for a long time (over 30min) with no change in anything.

I restarted LrC and restarted Win10, but see the same result.

Does anyone have any idea what this error message means.

I shutdown LrC and in the process did a backup which includes catalog optimization.  When I restarted LrC all the files are now found in their new location.  Bizarre!
