Is anyone having this issue..I go to import my iphone photos after upgrading to iOS 12.1 and only the HEIC files come through. The MOV files for the "live photos" are not being imported.  I can see them in Apple Photos on the imac but not lightroom Classic 8.1  I am running Mac OS Mojave....This issue has happened in the past after a Mac OS upgrade and a patch was eventually issued for lightroom. Is anyone else having this issue?  Is Adobe aware of this issue?

I actually have the opposite problem - I imported a large number of "live" photos from my IPhone XS Max and the photos are all .02 seconds long movies (with extension .mov). I only want the .jpg versions but can't figure out how to do this. I welcome any ideas about how to resolve this issue.

Did you say .02 (point zero 2 seconds) long? Is that the result once in Lightroom?

They are 2 seconds, of course. A .02 seconds movie would need a minimum frame rate of 100 fps to show any movement at all.

Can you please provide the exact LR version number as well as some system information you are using?
