HDR does not show up in Lightroom

When I process a HDR photo it does not show up in Lighroom Classic. I have to reimport it. Why does it not come up next the phostos that it is made from?

It should get imported automatically. One thing you can try is to put the brackets in a collection first. Then run the HDR merge from the collection. This always works for me.

You didn't say which version of LRc you are using.

I'm assuming when you say 'process a HDR photo' you are talking about LRc's Photo->Photo Merge->HDR feature.

Some thoughts:

  • You said you had to reimport the DNG file. Are you detecting duplicates on the import? I would assume it was already there so should be detected.
  • Check to see what your sort order is in case it is put somewhere out of view.
  • Do you have any filters turned on that may hide the DNG file?
  • Are you enabling stacking?

Make sure that Sort is set to File name in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen. If you can't see the toolbar, press T.

Lightroom has a tendency to reset Sort to Added order, in which case the HDR photo will appear at the bottom of the library.
