How can I export images from a Collection back to the same Collection?

When I have finished editing my images I usually want to use some in my Squarespace blog.

They need reducing in size to fit Squarespace size limitations. I've been exporting them to a Picks folder on my desktop. but would rather just drag and drop them direct from my Collection into my Squarespace draft.

I thought I saw a YouTube video recently that showed how to do this in the Export dialogue, but now I can't see the 'export back to folder (and stack)' option. Am I missing something?

The only time the Stack option is available, IIRC, if if you have selected to place the exported images in the same folder as the originals.

If, as your post suggests, you are exporting to a Picks folder, not Same As Originals, then the option to Stack with original is not available.

I have no idea what a Squarespace draft is so I have no suggestion for that part of your question.

When you drag an image from the grid into something outside of Lightroom, you will drag the underlying original. That means that what you want to do could work, but only if you export and resize the images first and then add these exported and resized images back to the catalog, so they become new originals for the catalog. You can't add images to a specific collection in the export dialog, but you can stack them with the original. This will stack them in the original folder, however, not in any collection. Not even when you export from a collection.

@ malcolmp, I am enclosing two screen captures one of the Folders as they are displayed in the left panel of the Library module. The first image shows the folders that are displayed are of the actual folders in your operating system and contain the original image files that have been imported into Lightroom.

The second image is of the Collections section which shows a list of collections you have created in Lightroom they are not actual folders in your operating system and do not contain actual image files or copies of them its just data stored in the catalog file.

Original files from your Folders can be imported in multiple collections and you still only have one Original.

The info posted by other users is relevant, just bear the above in mind

If you look at the image of the collections you will so that they do not look like the folders.
