How do I get keywords I set in Classic CC to sync with mobile iOS app?

Keywords that I set on desktop Classic 7.3.1 desktop app do not sync with my mobile iOS app. This makes searching difficult on mobile. Will the new 7.5 version desktop app resolve this?

Unfortunately, syncing keywords between Classic and Lr CC iOS and vice versa is not supported.

This is such a pain. Why on earth would this not be supported?! What a shame.

Lightroom CC for the desktop and mobile apps don't support hierarchical keywords whereas Lr Classic does. This may seem like something that can be overcome, but apparently it wasn't deemed to be a priority.

Lightroom CC is internet based and uses artificial intelligence to search. Lr Mobile is Lr CC on a mobile device. In theory you don’t need keywords to find your images, and I suspect this is why Lr CC is lacking in support for keywords created in Classic. I believe the goal for intelligent searching is to remove the need for keywords. This works great when looking for something like dog, tree, ocean or mountain. It doesn’t work for things more specific to your workflow.

Short answer - you can't.

No keywords entered in Mobile will ever appear in your Classic catalogue.

In certain conditions, keywords entered in Classic will be available in Mobile. This is accidental, and only occurs if before syncing the photos you did a Metadata > Save Metadata and those photos didn't have smart previews at that time. To deliberately send keywords to Mobile, don't sync the photos and don't generate smart previews until you have entered keywords in Classic and done a Metadata > Save Metadata. Now sync the photos and the keywords should appear in Mobile. This is a one time thing and any further keyword changes won't sync.

I understand the hierarchy problem with syncing keywords, but for people who are aware of that and don't use but root level keywords in classic, there should be a way to sync the root keyword in classic to the flat level keyword list in cc. And not being able to sync tagged people from classic to cc and mobile is a complete failure, if not even at least as a keyword.

Please add your constructive opinion to this feature request in the official Adobe feedback forum: Lightroom: Keywords don't sync between CC and Classic | Photoshop Family Customer Community . Be sure to click Vote and Follow in the upper-right corner. Adobe reads everything posted in that forum but rarely participate here, which is primarily user-to-user.

Adobe has stated they don't intend to add add new features to the sync between LR Classic and LR CC, but if enough people provide feedback, they might change their mind.

And if you're at it, also go to the Lightroom Classic: Should be able to Sync full raw files to the cloud, not just smart previews | Pho... thread on the same feedback site. That is the other missing link in Classic syncing to the cloud.
