How do I use my LrC Catalog on two laptops?

I have my catalog and photos set on an external drive.

I have been using LrC on this specific laptop for the last three years. But I recently purchased a new laptop and have my Adobe apps downloaded to it. When I try to plug in my external drive to the new laptop, none of the photos are shown. I know I need to get my new laptop to recognize the catalog on the external drive. But how do I do so? I don't want to make a mistake and lose 6k files.

Can anyone lead me in the right direction? Thank you guys. Btw, I don't use the cloud.

Are you opening the catalog on the new laptop by double clicking the catalog on the hard drive? Or, are you opening LrC from the app icon? By default, the app icon will create a new catalog in the Pictures folder the first time you launch the app.

I tried opening off of the ssd. But I get a dialog box that says it is not writable and cannot be opened.

Can someone post a video on how to do so? My old laptop is slow. And my new laptop is just there, waiting to be used.

Can you post the full path to the catalog?

While this message is shown, you can write a file (some file for testing) to the very same path on that external disc?

My catalog is on a Samsung T5 ssd.

Sorry for the terrible phone photos.

It's annoying. But I just need to get this working. The old laptop needs to be retired.

I don't see the requested full path - simply copy/write the full path in text.

Did you try the suggested file write?

Do you use the same LrC version on both computers?

Why don't you simply use screenshots instead of photos? That's native available on Windows to directly select the region.

I just need my Lr to read the ssd. I can see it on my files tab, just not when I open Lr.

And sorry, I don't know what "full path" is. So I'm not sure what I'm trying to get for you.  I apologize.

Is there a way to open a catalog off a ssd from the file/open catalog tab?
