How make sync off the default for new collections

When I create a collection sync is enabled by default. How can I change the default to sync disabled? I never want anything to sync. I do have sync paused so nothing uploads to the cloud but if I did want to sync something it would be annoying to have to manually check every collection to make sure sync is disabled before I unpaused sync. Thanks.

That's not what the others are saying. When you create a collection, in the Create Collection dialog panel there's an option to "Sync with Lightroom", which is enabled by default (see screenshot). You need to uncheck that option before you click on the "Create" button at the bottom right of the panel. If you do that, the option should now be unchecked when you next try to create a new collection, meaning the n

I just tested this to double check the behavior. Create a collection and manually uncheck 'Sync with Lightroom' - then create another collection. The settings are sticky so once they are turned off they will not be checked unless you check them again. Try this and let us know if you have a different outcome.

That is definitely not the behavior I see. I did the following:
Filtered my collections to show only synced collections. There were none.
Created a new empty collection. Sync was on for the new collection.
Unchecked sync on the new collection.
Created a new empty collection. Sync was on for this collection.

Both collections were created by clicking the + icon in the Collections
header. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion but it did not work. After renaming the prefs file I started LR, created a new collection, turned off syncing on the new collection, created a second new collection and the second collection was created with sync enabled. Any other thoughts?

When you create a Collection, there is an option to sync this collection. Turn it off the next time you create a collection, and then Lightroom Classic should remember your choice and all future collections should have the choice you made.
