Hey, @pisi. Welcome to the Lightroom Classic Community. I'll help you figure this out.

What version of Lightroom Classic are you working on?

Please try this and let me know how it goes.

1 - Uninstall Lightroom Classic from the Creative Cloud desktop app.

2 - Restart the machine.

3 - Install Lightroom Classic again

4 - Make sure you either Launch Lightroom Classic from the Creative Cloud desktop app, or

5 - Go to Lightroom installation folder, C drive > Program Files > Adobe > Lightroom Classic > Lightroom.exe > right-click Run as Administrator and check if the issue exists.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

I am having the same issue.  Just installed LRC on a second computer and it worked initially and I added some photos locally and processed a couple, incluidng one with IA denoise to check that it was working, and now when I restart the program (and also after following the steps above), I still get the "failed to initialize AI edits storage" message and the program quits...  Any other suggestions?

Thank you.

Hallo @Sameer K

thanks for your input!

I did as you instructed.

uninstall

reboot

install

Started LrC from the Creative Cloud desktop app.

Opened the original catalog file (the v14 file that I restored from my backup).

Got the pop-up that it needs to be upgraded to the latest catalog format && acknowledged that.

After a minute wait time, I got the same error

pisi_0-1762375603332.png

---

Resetting the catalog file from backup and retry, now running Lightroom as Administrator.

Got the pop-up that it needs to be upgraded to the latest catalog format && acknowledged that.

After a minute wait time, I got the same error.

---

Installing LrC v14.5.1 from the  Creative Cloud desktop app.

Got the issue described in [1].

Deleted the CURRENT file.

Was able to open the catalog.

This now runs Build 202508231203-c2638d01

Please let me know when this issue has been fixed so that I can try the upgrade again.

Regards,

Christoph

Hello all...

With the latest series of Adobe updates, once the Lightroom 2026 classic update was downloaded and installed on my Windows 11 machine, I get an error message while trying to load the program that says:

"Failed to Initialize AI Stages"

There is some smaller print below that in the error window that also says:

"Please refer to the backup catalogue and contact customer service."

This error window appears just for a split second, then disappears, followed by the program crashing.  I've tried rebooting my PC several times, but that did not fix the issues and as of now, I can't even bring up Lightroom classic without it doing that time after time - meaning, the split second error window, followed by the crash..  Again, that error window appears for just a split second, then it goes away, followed by the program crashing.

Any help or suggestions here?  Thanks in advance...

One more thing here.  So what I did then was to just delete the Lightroom Classic program, assuming (hopefully, not wrongly so), that if I did a Creative Cloud update request, it would notice Lightroom Classic missing, and then download it all over again.  However, that didn't happen?

There is no such thing as a "Lightroom 2026 classic update". I assume you mean Lightroom Classic 15. Is that what you mean?

Have you tried uninstalling (not "deleting" Lightroom Classic 15) and then reinstalling? The Adobe Creative Cloud Application will uninstall and then re-install Lightroom Classic 15 if you specifically tell it to do so. Click on the triple dot icon below Lightroom Classic and then uninstall.

Yes, that's correct - I should have said classic 15.  Unfortunately, I didn't see that on Creative Cloud and used an uninstaller.

Did you reinstall LrC? What happened?

I reinstalled it, but still am getting the same quick error message, followed by Lightroom crashing quickly.  All other Adobe programs are working superbly, along with every other program I have installed.  I wonder if it's a Windows 11 thing because all previous versions of Lightroom worked just fine.

Hello all...

With the latest series of Adobe updates, once the Lightroom 2027 classic update was downloaded and installed on my Windows 11 machine, I get an error message while trying to load the program that says:

There is some smaller print below that in the error window that also says:

Then, assuming that if I just delete Lightroom Classic, and then did a Creative Cloud update request, it would download Lightroom Classic all over again and that "could" fix the issues.  However, when I did that, Creative Cloud did not notice it missing and did not download Lightroom Classic again.

So now what do I do?

Any help or suggestions here?  Thanks in advance...

There is no such thing as the "Lightroom 2027 upgrade". Do you mean the upgrade to Lightroom Classic version 15.0?

Please do not post duplicate threads. I provided a possible answer here.

What suggestions are you referring to - other than a question, which asked if I uninstalled and reinstalled the program.  The issue still stands - and it has never done this before.

There have to be more people experiencing this, or they've just not launched the new Lightroom Classic update.

OK - something is wrong here.  The link you provided just brings me back to the thread that I started.  At least on my PC, I see nothing with regard to suggestions.  What am I missing here.  There are related conversations listed to the right, but nothing that has to do with the error I (and others) are receiving.  Please advise.

Suggestion won't work.  Why?  My issue is that my copy of Lightroom 15 launches just briefly and then immediately crashes after the split-second error window appears.  I can't keep it up to do those things that were suggested.  So I'm back to square one.

How does one download/back-track to versio 14.5?  That's one of the suggestions.  Where in Adobe CC can one find the link that allows me to download an earlier version of Lightroom CC?

My arrow points to uninstall, but really you want to select Other Versions.
