After upgrading to the latest version 13 of Lightroom Classic I am now not able to access my image files.
At first the pictures would appear but there is an exclamation point at the top right of each image box and when I click on it it says that the original file cannot be found.
I tried the locate option that appeared in the message and when I find the file where it is being stored on my external hardrive it still does not allow it to open.
I also tried going back to older versions on my computer by going to the Lightroom Backup folder in the Pictures location under Finder and still cannot get it to work.
At this time I cannot view or edit any of my photos and I do not know how to fix the problem.
Has anyone else experienced this problem or know how to fix it ?
An exclamation point on the thumbnail indicates that the original photo file is not where LrC expects it to be. It might have been moved or renamed, or in a folder that has moved or renamed, outside of LrC.
(An exclamation point in a black circle indicates a corrupt file. ie. not missing, just cannot be read.)
Is it possible that the Upgrade to v13 chose an old catalog to upgrade? (Files may have changed location since that old catalog was used.)
Some guides to fix 'Missing' images-
...Check that Lightroom Classic still has 'Full Disk Access'. Maybe the update did reset it.

I appreciate your help in resolving this issue. I didn't know what to do and was afraid to do more harm than good so your advice was very helpful.
I was able to fix the problem using the link you provided to Lightroom Queen. All I had to do was right click on the main folder with a question mark and select the "Find Missing Folder" option. After that I was able to locate the missing folder on my external hardrive and reconnect it to Lightroom. Now I'm back in business !
Thanks

Thank you Johan. This is exactly what is happening. Ignore what Rob_Cullen wrote.
