In latest Lightroom CC (12.2 release Camera Raw 15.2) on Windows 10, whenever I convert files to dng via the Import dialog, an uppercase (*.DNG) file extension is always used instead of lowercase (*.dng) as I have set in the Preferences - File Handling - Import DNG Creation setting.
When converting RAW files that are already in the catalog using Library - Convert to DNG, the correct lowercase (*..dng) file extension is used in the resulting file as set in the Preferences.

I've tried recreating this on Windows 10 & 11 with Lightroom Classic 12.2 with RAW files from 3 cameras, and I couldn't recreate this.
What camera are you working on? I tried it with ARW, NEF & RW2 files. You can also reset Lightroom's preferences (use method 2): https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/setting-preferences-lightroom.html
Let me know if the issue exists,
Thanks!
