Just got my Canon RP - Connected it to my iMac and imported my first photos in Lightroom 9.0 - no problem. Took a few more photos and wanted to import them. Hooked up the camera with USB and tried Import - no photos were found? Reformatted the card and took a couple of test photos - same result.
Downloaded the photos with the Canon Utility and then imported them into Lightroom from the hard drive. Guess this is a workaround but makes for double work.
What setting will not allow Lightroom to see the photos on my camera after it had intially worked?

Are all the images raw files (CR2) or are some jpegs or tiffs? If the raw plugin-in not up-to-date then Lightroom won't recognize raw files, but will other formats. Also, when downloading using the Canon Utility were the files converted from CR2 to DNG or something else?

Files are CR3 but first batch imported fine, now it can see no file when I attach the camera. Canon imports were not converted but retained CR3.
Creative Cloud shows RAW update 12.1 completed but specifically mentions Photoshop but not Lightroom.

First off, you connected the camera to the computer via USB. Issue could be in camera settings for the USB connection. I do not have that camera, but their are probably several options. this could relate to connecting to a computer as opposed to a printer, and connecting to a computer for file transfer as opposed to teathering.

Thanks, but I connected it the same way when I used the Canon utility and the same way when I first imported successfully.

Second off, in Lightroom Classic, in the Import dialog, under Sources, Devices should not be visable, and should not be used, instead look in Files.

Files show up under the devices. For example, the files show up below the Device (Mac hard drive) then below the user name. Seems it should be the same for the Camera as a device with the file name below. I am going to try my older T4i and see if it still imports the way it did.

Perhaps was a Mac software issue. Working now. However I often have problems with video importing. Imports the photos fine and then has a problem with the videos also selected. Seems after I reboot my Mac then I can import those videos. Have the lastest Mac software on my iMac.
