LC missing metadata: this is driving me crazy.

Hello

Since its last update, LC is driving me crazy with metadata. I write, over and over again, the title and caption... and they disappear! It's random, some images keep the metadata and others don't. It also does strange things when trying to synchronize metadata (title, caption and keywords, mainly). Please Adobe, this is NOT serious and it is wasting an impressive amount of time. It's unfuriating!

Update: the metadata don't disappear, they just take AGES to update. I mean that I write them, press enter, go to the next picture and the previous one shows empty those fields that I've just written. I get upset, say bad words... and after 5 minutes or so, the metadata are shown again. But this is equally infuriating, of course.

Try deleting the Helper.lrdata folder:

a) Do Catalog Settings > General > Show to open Finder / File Explorer on the current catalog folder.
b) Exit LR.
c) In that folder, delete the folder "<catalog> Helper.lrdata" (careful!).
d) Restart LR, and it will rebuild the folder.

The Helper.lrdata folder caches information about metadata, keywords, folders, collections, and other things to speed the performance of LR and it can sometimes get corrupted. In recent versions, LR has used it more heavily to improve the speed of displaying metadata, and there have been a fair number of bugs with it.

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut out as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs and it takes up vast amounts of scroll space making the reply less readable and less likely that others will bother with your post.
