When I enter metadata in the library module of LR Classic (Win 11), e.g. the location, copyright, inscription, title or something else, the entry either immediately disappears after pressing enter when I'm in the "view and edit" mode. Or when I'm in the "edit only" mode, the entry stays visible after pressing enter, but is not shown again when I view another picture and return to the previous one.
But it is still there: When I hit the "customize" button I can see my metadata entry. Or when I use a metadata entry for automatically renaming a file, it works.
For me, this is a serious issue, because I cannot see at a glance if I already entered the metadata or not.
To be precise: the metadata fields that I need and the data from the camera are visible, but not the entries that I make, no matter in which mode I am.
Hope someone has a solution.

That's how Edit Only mode is designed:

What is the motivation behind this design? In my view, this is a malfunction.

Yes -- in View And Edit mode, the metadata fields should not disappear after you hit enter (as they are in your screen recording). As a next troubleshooting step, please do the LR menu command Help > System Info and copy/paste the entire contents here so we can see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running.

I don't see anything in System Info that might relevant to this problem. (Your graphics driver is out-of-date, but that wouldn't be causing this issue.)
Sometimes the file "<catalog> Helper.lrdata" gets corrupted, which can cause problems with metadata. Try these steps:
a) Do Catalog Settings > General > Show to open Finder / File Explorer on the current catalog folder.
b) Exit LR.
c) In that folder, delete the folder "<catalog> Helper.lrdata".
d) Restart LR, and it will rebuild the folder.
The Helper.lrdata folder caches information about keywords, folders, collections, and other things to speed the performance of LR and it can sometimes get corrupted. In recent versions, LR has used it more heavily to improve the speed of displaying metadata, and there have been a fair number of bugs with it.

Glad you got it resolved, and thanks for confirming it -- that will help others.

Please make a short, full-resolution screen recording (not a phone video) of the entire LR window showing this behavior -- it might give clues as to what's going on. If you make the LR window smaller and keep the video short (e.g. under 15 seconds), it should be small enough to attach to your reply here.
