Lightroom 14.5.1 crashes every 1-3-5 minutes

Hi!

I'd really appreciate your advise!

Lightroom Classic (14.5.1)  keeps crashing every 1-3-5-10(max) minutes. Or it just freezes and i have to end the task. (Creative cloud desktop says - works on this device).

 

Windows 11, latest update. Installed 2 days back vinstead of 10, that's when the crashes started (installed on formated hard disk)

 

What has been already done:

- reinstalled lightroom

-reset preferences

- switched off gpu in preferences

- updated driver for gpu

- created 3 new catalogs (latest one has just one folder for test purposes, catalogs are on internal drive; they were optimized etc)

 

Adobe compatibilty says that system is fine, after it does check after crash. 

I spent 3+ hours with support agents today, they did the same mentioned above, couldn't find a better solution or agreed escalate the issue (i got really sad, when the solution offered was that my last catalogue with just one folder might be too much. Seriously?).

Hi Sameer! It turned out that i had a glitchy motherboard, we replaced it with the new one today, will test it out in the morning! Shall be all good. Thank you so much for your advice!

Do you use any third party plugins? One of these could be the culprit and none of the actions you mention uninstalls plugins.

two questions:

1. Where do i check that? I had adobe support person check/update the GPU driver day before and they confirmed it was latest version.

2. It did work fine for many years with Windows 10 before two days back, when i updated system to windows 11(i updated the motherboard/processor/ram also).

Hey, @Olga2346848352f8. I've located the crash logs for your machine. Your machine has AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics & the drivers for this processor are from two years ago (2024-06).

 

Try to temporarily disable the secondary GPU from the Windows Device Manager. Head here for the steps: https://adobe.ly/4nhG75E;

 

Do you have any custom overclocking or underclocking profiles set up in the Motherboard BIOS? Although rare, an unstable RAM profile can also cause issues.

 

Try booting the Windows machine in safe mode with networking and check if the issue appears.
