Lightroom 4.4 does not import Nikon NEF raw file from Nikon D7500

Hello, I have Lightroom 4.4 w/ CameraRaw7.4 version. I have NEF files shot with Nikon D7500. LR4.4 sees the NEF files in preview, but it does not recognize the NEF files when I try to import them for devlop. In the Preference/File Handling tab, I only see Camera Raw 7.1 and later option, despite I have downloaded and ran CameraRaw10.5.   

The error message reads: The files are not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom

Please advise what is the proper step to enable Lightroom4.4 to recognize D7500 created RAW file. Thank you

Hi there,

The support for the Nikon D7500 was added with Lightroom version 6.12. The Camera you are using is not supported in Lightroom 4.4 since the version of Lightroom can not work with Camera Raw version higher than version 7.4.

You can convert the RAW files from Nikon D7500 to DNG files using the Adobe DNG converter and then import them to Lightroom 4.4. You can download the Adobe DNG converter from the below mentioned link.

Lightroom 4.4 is very old and there's no more support from Adobe.

Either you upgrade to a newer version like Lightroom Classic or you convert the RAW files to DNG as thedigitaldog wrote.
