I obviously made a mistake by using the Adobe Creative Cloud App on my Mac (macOS High Sierra). I have a standalone Lightroom 6 install and clicked update which installed Lightroom Classic CC and removed LR 6. It seems though that this is subscription only (this was not mentioned in the installer) and now I cannot open LR anymore as I do not have a subscription. LR 6.13 seems a separate update. So what to do now? Where would I find a LR 6.12/6.13 Full installer and how could I uninstall the Adobe CC App that brought me into this mess ...

Follow the LR6 serialization instructions in the link given by 99jon above, and that should be it.
Adobe Support has issued this statement:
"We are sorry that Lightroom Classic CC update is removing the Lightroom 6 (Perpetual version) for the users and is installing a trial version on their computers.
This issue has been reported to the team and we are trying to get a fix for this, meanwhile I would request you all to please let us know about any such threads/issues that you come across.
Meanwhile, for the Lightroom 6 (Perpetual version) users they can uninstall Lightroom Classic CC and reinstall Lightroom 6 from : Download Photoshop Lightroom"

Adobe has confirmed it will support the perpetual version LR6 until the end of the year. So there will likely be another couple of updates, LR6.13 & LR6.14

Has anyone found Lightroom 6 has been updated top 6.13? As today is 10/26 and I did not see this update in Lightroom, although I did see other updates.

Automatic update sometimes is delayed.
If you can't wait, here's the download: Download Photoshop Lightroom

I had the same problem and managed to resolve it with guidance from the helpdesk. When completed I received an email stating that my case was now closed. The case was entitled/filed under "Launching Issue". I'm sure the statistics produced by the helpdesk reflect that everything is fine as the real title for the statistic should have been something like "Customer tricked into switching to subscription product from standalone product."

"Launching issue" may be too generic a category and not so accurate for what happened here, but "Customer tricked" is not better or more accurate.
It was inadvertent on Adobe's part, and quickly fixed and apologized for.
Sorry for the trouble you experienced.

Thank you for the apology, however, clearly, as shown by the number of mentions by people who bothered to complain, mine was not an isolated incident.
I do find that using the word "update" in this case is wrong especially as I have never subscribed to any Adobe product and as such I do feel tricked into clicking on the update button.
While resolving the problem and in answer to my question, "will Adobe continue to update this product beyond v6.12?" the helpdesk representative "Anubha" answered "No".
I now see that version 6.13 is available!

I got snookered too. But before going through the gauntlet to revert back, I think I’ll play with the trial for a few more days. What the heck, I’m here now.
I have noticed LR Classic CC is a bit quicker. Syncing with the tablet via CC is cool too. I had wondered if that would add any value to my processes? We’ll see..

Adobe support helped me with a similar issue; sent me to a link which enabled re-install of Lightroom 6+.
I'm now opting for the Subscription based Classic which comes with Photoshop. My copy of photoshop is way out of date!

Wow what a faff to find a solution and Adobe don't care a jot so much for support. It would be so much better to delete 90% of the trash on the forum and leave just the solutions not the 'try this, try that blind leading the blind crud'
To summarise, after 5 days scrabbling through this rubbish forum for help and waiting for chat services to work the solution for those that HATE the CC stuff is:
1. Uninstall the cloud rubbish - you don't need it
2. Uninstall the corrupted Lightroom 6 application itself. ( It didn't lose my catalogue, and I was assured it wouldn't but I can't guarantee it won't do something weird on your machine, lets face it attempting the update made a mess in the first place to drive you/me here to this pit of hell).
3. Download the full (744MB Lightroom 6 install ( link above in wroboertc's post of 2nd November).
This will restore basic lightroom 6 with no updates to your PC. the download has to unpack and create and install set of files first.
4. Run the install. You will need to login and insert your licence key numbers.
5. Download what ever version of the update you want (the last is 6.14) as a setup.zip file. and extracts that to create an update installer
6. Install the update.
Hopefully it works for you, it did for me but I am going to another vender for software after all this.

This solution to fix the confirmed bug that removed LR6 has already bean posted many, many times
I have no clue where you have been looking so far or where you have been asking before .... this is a standard procedure and most (if not all) of us giving advice here know it very well.
Anyhow, we are all happy for you that your system is back up and running as expected again

Shame the search facilities don't find it or the we had to wade through acres of conflicting and unhelpful suggestions to get a fix. But hey that is what Adobe call support and why I will not be buying their products anymore.
Have a nice day.

I honestly feel like crying. I feel like I'm being bullied by SAdobe and its really affecting me.
I updated to Lr6 and downloaded 6.14. I registered licence etc..
The performance of LR6.14 has been abysmal, freezing my computer. sometimes I can't go 20-40 images without it freezing and I have to reboot the bloody computer. But here's the sick part.
I did everythig required here.
Download and install Lightroom 6 (Single App license)
But I am sick to death of being told I've 7 more days trial etc,.. and having to sign in TWICE with the license code and maybe twice signing it with my email as well. before the program even opens.
Lr5.7 was a dream. By upgrading, I'm more stressed than I've ever been. Its criminally slow and that's using 4G Ram. How the Fu$k can I stop lightroom literally harassing me for my email and license ALL the time! Once should be enough!

Sorry for the difficulty. Try the instructions given here:
How to convert a Lightroom CC 2015 trial to Lightroom 6
If that doesn't work, then uninstall Lightroom (as well as the CC Desktop app if you have it), download & run the CC Cleaner Tool, reboot your computer, and reinstall Lightroom 6 – and then follow those same instructions above.

The only way to persuade Adobe to reinstate non subscription versions of Lightroom is if lots of us buy a rival product instead when they finally stop adding cameras to LR6. I have been a Lightroom user since version 1, and have been very satisfied - till now. Some features of the latest subscription version are excluded from the last update of LR 6 v 6.14. I also Have a Phase One back for my 30 year old Hasselblad and use Capture One software. This offers much the same cataloging and non destructive editing as LR. Some professionals regard its colour processing algorithms as better than Adobe AND it remains a single purchase product not requiring ongoing subscriptions. It is available as a free trial download from the Phase One website. I still use LR for my Canon work but when Adobe fall too far behind will use Capture One for everything. They have tutorials for people switching from LR. ADOBE please think again about continuing to offer non subscription updates for LR.

I had a standalone version of Lightroom and a subscription to Photoshop which was costing me $29 per month. Problem solved, I was close to cancelling my subscription and going elsewhere, when I realised that I could get the Adobe Photography Plan which includes the latest versions of Photoshop and LIghtroom, plus mobile apps all for $14.95 per month, replacing my more expensive subscription, resulting in a refund to me. Think Adobe lost this battle in the end. So for the next 12 months I’ll be doing fine!
