Hello there. Late last week my LRC (current version 13.2) started crashing at opening. I have done a clean reinstall to no avail.

I use a MacBook pro with the M1 Max chip and Sonoma 14.4.1.

Problems started right after upgrading to the new version of Sonoma. Thank you in advance for any help

I took a look at your crash history.

I noticed that you have only crashed since the 13.2 update, and no crashes have appeared for 13.1, 13.0.2, or 13.0.1.  The crashes start with version 13.2, and many pre-date the macOS 14.4.1 updates.  What's odd is that you have 13 distinct crashes in your history.  That is very unusual and typically points to a problem with your installation.

My recommendation is to do a preference reset followed by a clean reinstall of Lightroom.

This procedure works for both Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Desktop.

If you are using Lightroom Desktop, your local storage location can be changed. Please review this setting after resetting preferences.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.

2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.

3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.

4. Close Lightroom.

5. Restart Lightroom.

Clean Lightroom Install Procedure

  1. Close Lightroom
  2. Restart the computer
  3. Use the Adobe Creative Cloud App to uninstall Lightroom
  4. Restart the computer
  5. Install Lightroom via the Creative Cloud App without launching any other programs.
  6. Restart the computer
  7. Launch Lightroom
  8. Wait 5 minutes

If, after this process, you crash again, please resubmit your crash report and respond in this thread when you have done so.

    Thanks!

Hello, I am having similar issues, but on Sonoma 14.5. I tried to follow your instructions myself, but I'm having a strange issue. I completed the first steps, but I can't complete the second set. When I go to creative cloud, it shows only the install option for lightroom. Which is very strange, as it is already installed. When I click on it, it just launches Lightroom.

Also, I am having issues with photoshop freezing. I tried using it instead of lightroom for the time being, but it has frozen twice, both after selecting auto tone. After force quitting, it unfortunately did not open the crash report dialog.
