Lightroom Classic, how to sync collections with all Catalogs?

Community Beginner ,

Hello,

I use Lightroom Classic with multiple Catalogs. I prefer to work this way. I like to work with Plains and Smarts Collections. Some of my Collections are available in all of my Catalogs but not all. How can I synchronize all my Collections with all my Catalogs in Lrt Classic?

I understand that only the files inside the open Catalog will show in the Collection. I prefer that Collections be organized in the same order and nomenclature in all Catalogs.

Any tips will help!

Thank you!

Merci!

There's no "synchronize" method as such. However, when you do File > Import From Another Catalog and select photos from that catalog to be imported, LR will import all the smart collections (their definitions, not their photos), and it will import all the collections containing the selected photos.

So to copy all the smart and regular collection from catalog A to catalog B,

1. Make a backup of catalog B.

2. In catalog B do File > Import From Another Catalog and choose catalog A.

3. Select the options File Handling: Add New Photos To Catalog Without Moving and Replace: Nothing.

4. Click Check All and then Import.

5. After the import completes, in the Navigator Panel click on Previous Import, select all the displayed photos, and do Photo > Remove Photos,  selecting Remove From Lightroom.

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post if it helps you get responses.
