Lightroom Classic only syncing some files not all

So I'm running into this issue where I have albums synced to mobile and regular lightroom (cloud), everything is great. Then when I go to sync them to Lightroom Classic I have issues where an album will only sync 100 of 150 files or it will say it has synced all files only to show blank photos with errors saying "cannot find origional source". Why would it even need the origional source when its coming from the cloud? Either way Lighroom Classic is not playing nice with the sync. I've tried unsyncing/resyncing that didnt work. Just not sure why all other platforms sync perfectly except Classic, any help would be appreciated!

Hey, @Clipskid. Welcome to the Lightroom Classic community. I'll help you figure this out.

Lightroom Classic works with images stored locally, so the images must be downloaded at the default location by Lightroom's logic.

In Lightroom Classic, you can go to Edit > Preferences > Lightroom Sync > Set the default location to internal drive or set it to default.

Im not sure this makes sense as I am having trouble syncing files to Lightroom Classic that are already in the cloud and actionable in mobile and web (or Lightroom 6.5). Ie I open the album on my phone and the files show up and I can work on them. I open the album in Lightroom 6.5 and I can work on files. I open the album in Classic and the files are blank (no preview) and i cannot open them to work on.

I gives me an error saying that the files are missing from the "sync folder" so I get why I cant work on them. My question is why arent they syncing when I have sync turned on and other albums have synced succesfully.

I understand. Are you using Lightroom 6.5 and Lightroom Classic on the same machine?

Before Lightroom Classic gives you the option to edit the images, it has to first download & store the images locally.

It could be taking time to store the images. Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Lightroom Sync and share a screenshot of this screen with us.

Thanks!

Ok so I solved the problem.

This is for anyone who transfers catalogs from one cpu to another. Basically Lightroom Classic wasn't syncing all my files for some reason so I would get some albums from Mobile and Lightroom 6.5 but not all.  This is a slight work around but it's pretty quick.

All I did was go into my old cpu and copied the "Synced Photos" folder from the Lightroom folder onto a portable hard drive. I then took that hard drive and connected it to my new cpu. I then went into the Lightroom Synced Photos folder on the new cpu and drag and dropped the old "Synced Photos" folder that I just copied. Once I did this Lightroom Classic auto populated all the missing albums and I am now able to work on all projects again.

I still find it strange that this happend in the first place as some of the missing ablums were from (and stored) on my mobile device and they were already uploaded to the cloud. Not to mention that Lightroom Classic synced some of those Mobile files but not all of them for some reason. Anyways I hope this helps anyone who may have similar troubles with syncing to a new cpu
