Lightroom Classic so slow to apply presets, copy/paste, and deleting images

Ever since the last update, lightroom has been running so incredible slow and laggy. I have the MacBook Pro M1 2021. Galleries I could have completed in 8 hours now takes 3 days because of the need to continuously optimize my catalog and reset my lightroom/mac every few days. When I try to click on a preset it takes up to 30 seconds - 1 minute to be applied. When I try to delete an image the "gathering information" can also take up to 1 minute to delete ONE photo. Copying and pasting also has a lag and viewing the next photo takes forever. I use Smart Previews so reading RAW files isn't the issue. I turn off syncing to try to help with the speed. I've set the preview size to "low". This truly has been distrupting my workflow and I haven't been able to find a solution. I have all the updated software and would appreciate some help. I can also share my information in case that may help in finding a solution. Thank you!

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

I'm also having this issue since the update and it's making it infuriating to get any work done.

Same MacBook Pro M1 Pro. Taking forever to apply any presets, paste presets / looks and export. I've tried optimising catalogs, turning off syncing, downgraded versions, clearing caches but nothing is working.

Please adobe, stop messing with stuff for working professionals. I cannot wait for someone to come up with a proper Lightroom alternative.

Both of you: do you have 'Automatically save changes to XMP' enabled? If so, turn it off and see if that helps. I have a MBP with M1 Max and Lightroom Classic 13.5.1 runs fine with all the actions you mention. The only problem I have is with 60 MP raw files from my Sony A7RV, when I try to use the Remove brush while being zoomed in to 100%. That is excruciatingly slow, but I found that zooming to 50% instead of 100% solves it. At that zoom level the brush is fine, and I can still see what I am doing. It's odd that just this difference in zoom level can cause such an enormous difference in performance.

I have the same problem with the same hardware configuration. Working has become impossible. Have you found a solution?
