What's causing the yellow discoloration under my subject's underarms?

Hi Bob. Thanks for your reply! I'm new to photo editing & Lightroom Classic CC. Here are a couple of examples.

It appears to be a mixed lighting issue or something of light from below but I would not know why!  I just used a local adjustment brush and changed the TEMP and TINT of the area to match the rest of the lighting.  One of the experts will probably have a better idea why the lighting is this way.   I did a quick and dirty 1 minute fix.

I don't know how to do an Overlay for local adjustment brush, (though know a small amount in Photoshop CC, adjustment layers)

Main problem is I have thousands of pics of her dancing @ her wedding & reception, so even if I did know how to do overlays & adjustment layers, it would be difficult to do individually. Will mess with the Temp & Tint to see if that helps & let you know. Thanks!

How do I get the "star Correct Answer" off of posts? Or does it matter?

The overlay is just the color that shows up when you are using the adjustment brush and use the "O" key to turn the overlay on and off.  I just included this to show you where I brushed.  This was a LOT easier to do this photo in Lightroom than it would be in Photoshop I think.  Some of the photos have an overall color cast but correcting that didn't help the underarm issue much.  I think you will have to use the local adjustment brush on the really important ones.

Just for my info, why would she want "thousands of pictures" of her dancing.  Don't you cull out everything but the best?

Thanks Bob. Located the color overlay & adjustment brush under Histogram.

Will need to watch some Adobe Tutorials to learn how to use.

I'm culling as I go, but have photos from 2 shooters, using a main camera, with a backup.

The whole wedding was dancing! Beginning w/ her dancing down the aisle w/ parents.

It's all a major Learning Experience!

Are these camera raw images, or have they been camera "pre-processed" into jpgs using a scheme that might exaggerate skin tone differences poorly? Perhaps that and/or different light sources might account for some of the difference. Notice that yellow hue occurs in other tonal transition areas such as neck.  I was able to eliminate much of the difference by a some color adjustment HSL orange -56 -24 +29 yellow -58 -62 +40 - your mileage may vary.

Thanks Joe. These are all NEFS (shot in Raw). Had to locate the photo again, lol.

I found the HSL settings you gave & they did solve the yellow underarm & other tonal transition areas. YAY!

But makes the photo into more of a single tonal color than the many colors in the photo.

Yes, unfortunately it's a sledgehammer approach that affects everything.  If you have to do this on many photos, perhaps you can fiddle with the orange and yellows to get a compromise solution that might not quite cure the discoloration, but give you the best of both worlds. Otherwise, I suspect using the localized solution of https://forums.adobe.com/people/Bob%20Somrak is your best bet. I'd also suggest trying any other color profiles you might have; one might help minimize the differences. And to speak to your original question, this "foldal" discoloration could possibly be a genetic thing, or a function of spray tanning!

Thanks Joe. Yes, it might be a genetic thing, since don't really notice anyone else w/ issue.

But, as you & Bob both mentioned the tonal discoloration in other areas, also other areas some other people, and Bob said possibly partially a mixed lighting issue or something of light from below. Obviously I don't understand the editing tools enough. Will work with & see what works. Since so many photos, would be easier if able to solve most with same solution. Will update tomorrow, so you both can see. Will also work w/ Profiles.

Unfortunately, flash didn't keep up all of the time, so have had to eliminate "noise" in those pics, using Noise Reduction Tools.
