Whenever I try to apply any AI mask to a photo in Lightroom, the app buffers as if it's working on creating the mask, and then the screen turns black. After a couple seconds, the screen comes back but every panel in Lightroom is pure white and I can't perform any actions until I restart the app. Up until a few days ago, the issue only happened occasionally and I was able to live with it. However it now happens every time I use an AI mask, which makes it almost impossible for me to edit photos efficiently.
Here's what I've tried so far to fix the issue: Updating GPU drivers, rolling-back GPU drivers, turning off GPU use in Lightroom preferences, editing in a new catalog, installing cloud-based Lightroom (still crashed with same issue), rolling-back Lightroom Classic, changing to lower performance Arc GPU, and clearing Lightroom preferences.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Below is all the info from Lightroom Classic.

I have a very similar problem, except it doesn't crash on every picture. Some pictures work fine with AI masks, others crash in the same way repeatedly nomatter which AI mask I try to apply to them. I have a very similar configuration to yourself, interestingly I have exactly the same Intel Arc 140T gpu.

Sucks that you're having a similar issue, but I'm glad to hear that it's not just a me problem..

Okay, so after 3 hours on Adobe support this afternoon we've managed to stumble across a bit of a workaround:
Step 1 - In Edit - Preferences, make sure Use Graphics Processor is off and that lightroom is started with this setting (i.e. if it is set to anything else, then change it to this and re-start lightroom).
Step 2 - If you attempt to use an AI mask now, it will fail, but Lightroom will not crash.
Step 3 - Now, go back to preferences and set Use Graphics Processor to Automatic and the AI masks now work!
(Step 4) - When you finish editing, go back and set preferences to Use Graphics Processor = Off so that when you come back for your next session it is in the right place to go staight from Step 2 next time.
I've not tested this extensivley, or with any other settings changed, this was on a fresh install of Lightroom Classic with all other settings as defaults for the moment and a very small test catalog (5 pictures vs. my
~188000 in my main catalog). As alwasy, your milage might vary, but it would be interestign to see if you get the same behaviour. I intend to test a bit more extensivley now to see if this really is a reliable way forwards.

Glad that this works for you, it unfortunately still caused a crash for me.

The first thing that you should try is to switch off the GPU support from the Lightroom preferences and check if that helps to fix the issue.
Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance tab > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" > Restart Lightroom.
https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-gpu.html
If it's help see here Troubleshoot GPU issues | Lightroom Classic (adobe.com) and check the different steps.
Check also if your system is up-to-date. Do you have installed all recent updates and patches for the operating system and the device drivers, especially the graphic driver.
Another step is to try to reset the Lightroom preferences.
https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/
It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:
https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/preference-file-and-other-file-locations.html

Disabling GPU usage does not seem to help, it still crashes in exactly the same way.
Note I am on a fresh install of Lightroom and Windows from 4 days ago having recently moved to a new laptop, hence the vadt majority of my settings and drivers as up to date and largely default.

Yes, I have tried all fixes here and unfortunately none of them fixed the issue.

Problems like these are almost always GPU based. You use "Intel(R) Arc(TM) 140T GPU (16GB) (32.0.101.6881)"
That GPU driver is apparently out of date. https://www.guru3d.com/download/intel-arc-graphics-driver-download-version-30-101-1325/

The latest driver reported by Intel Driver & Support Assistant is Version: 32.0.101.7026 Release date: August 22, 2025 which I have installed an exhibits exactly the issue.
